Continual Professional Development.

Basically the continual learning and development of you as a business owner or person.


I'm guessing if you are the type of person to read this blog then you show some kind of interest in continuing to learn and evolve.


In my opinion this is one of the BEST bits of being a business owner, you are never 'done'. There is always something new to learn be it sales, marketing, delivery, leadership or tech.


It has also never been easier to learn. Blogs, podcasts, courses, youtube, reading and more are all available online with a lot of them also being fairly inexpensive or free.


So what is the 'best' CPD?


There is obviously a lot you can learn that's industry specific but I think there is one thing that's valuable no matter what business you run.


That's being a customer.


Go and spend your money being a customer in someone else's business, particularly higher end establishments like restaurants, hotels, cafe's, gyms and more.


Being in higher end establishments really stretches your vision on:


A- What's possible.

B- What good customer service actually looks like.

C- The standard we should aspire too.

D- It will make us want more of that experience and thus be more motivated to earn more money to get more of those experiences.


Spending your money in this way isn't 'wasted' it's actually some of the best money you can spend.

The trials and tribulations of doing your own thing.

 If you are anything like me your brain is a constant state of movement. This is the curse of the small business owner. One minute your having a groundbreaking idea for how you can improve your product and the next you're sitting in front of your partner and not taking in a word they are saying because your only thought is where payroll is coming from this month.
